I have
so far enjoyed reading Colleen Coble’s Journey of the Heart series as it
followed Rand and Sarah Montgomery through ups and downs and misunderstandings
and finally into happy matrimony. The
fourth book in the series, A Heart’s Betrayal is my least favorite so
far. While it is nice to see a love story
developing for Isaac Liddle (the soldier that Sarah turned down in order to
marry Rand), it seemed like an awkaward segue into the story. Emmie is the sister of Ben and Labe Croftner,
but I don’t remember her even being mentioned in any of the previous
books. There is also a small timeline
issue that confused me. Emmie and Monroe
met one day when her father was being difficult, courted for six weeks, and had
been married for three months. But on
the next page it is mentioned that her father has been dead for three
years. I don’t think that works
out.
I will
probably read the last book in the series, because I’ve read the description of
it, and it looks interesting. But
overall, I think this storyline could have been finished after the third
installment. Colleen Coble is still one
of my favorite authors, and I don’t think this is a true testament to her work.
Happy
Reading!
